Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (C.G.S.) is an engaging, 'hands on' introduction to the Catholic faith for children between the ages of three and six. The video below gives an introduction and overview of the program.

A Catechesis Born of Joy

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd was born from the joy of the children in their encounter with God and lives in being nourished by this joy. It has also been observed that children of the same developmental stage even though belonging to different cultural backgrounds, respond to certain elements of the Christian message in the same way.

Over time through being with children in a specially prepared environment called an atrium, observing and listening to their responses, scriptural and liturgical themes developed that most resonated with children’s religious needs according to their age levels. Thus the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd divests itself of any strictly scholastic character, so as to become an experience of life, an education in faith, and a celebration of the encounter with the Father, in listening to Jesus, the one Teacher, and in obedience to the Holy Spirit.
Dates and Times
Our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program meets in our C.G.S. Atrium in our Parish Center on Tuesday mornings, from 9:00-10:30 a.m.

The dates for the C.G.S. program for the 2024-2025 season (all dates / times are Tuesdays from 9:00-10:30 a.m. unless otherwise noted) are as follows:
- October 8, 15, 22
- November 5, 12, 19
- December 3, 10, 17
- January 7, 14, 21
- February 4, 11, 18
- March 4, 11, 18
- April 1, 8, 15
- May 6
Please note that dates / times are subject to change. Changes will be communicated to the parents of the children in the program.

- Cost
  In order to help offset the cost of materials and consumables needed for the C.G.S. program, yet keep the program affordable for all our families with young children, we ask families to contribute $50 (total, per family) for the program year (October 2024 - May 2025). Our parish will cover the remaining costs associated with the program and program materials and consumables.
  
  Requirements
  By submitting your registration, you agree that the above named children have your permission as parents / legal guardians to participate in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (C.G.S.) program at Immaculate Conception Parish. Please note that photos and/or videos may occasionally be taken during in-person classes and/or activities, and may be included on the Parish website or Parish social media. Please contact us if you do not wish such photos and/or videos to be posted on the Parish website and/or Parish social media.
  
  Please be mindful that our catechists are volunteers with families of their own. Parents / legal guardians of children in the C.G.S. program are responsible for bringing and picking up their children on time. The Parish reserves the right, at our sole discretion, to limit the number of children in the C.G.S. program, as well as to limit, restrict and/or remove a child from the C.G.S. program in the event that the child is repeatedly disruptive, hostile, violent or poses a danger to him/herself or others, or otherwise cannot appropriately participate in the C.G.S. program.
